Price includes daily coached yoga sessions, 7 nights' bed and breakfast accommodation at Villa Miela in shared twin rooms, 4 evening meals, including welcome dinner, and 4 great excursions with the group including hiking, kayaking, wine-tasting. Flights, optional massage and meals at restaurants excluded. Breakfast is self-serve.

Enjoy a week's yoga, relaxation and activities in the untamed natural beauty and pristine environment of Montenegro's Lake Skadar National Park. Based at beautiful Villa Miela, a renovated stone villa close to the lake, you can recharge and relax as you participate in daily hatha or vinyasa yoga flow sessions. Workshops take place on the villa's hillside terrace and at other spots around the lake, such as hidden freshwater beaches and panoramic viewpoints. In addition to yoga, guests can choose to go out on other guided excursions such as hiking, wild swimming and kayaking; or simply relax at the villa.

The purity of this hidden lake makes it the ideal base for a holistic retreat, offering clean air, fresh water and rich wildlife, set in some of the most spectacular scenery Montenegro has to offer. Your Instructors:

30th April - Haydana Mugoša is a homegrown Montenegrin expert in Hatha and Vinyasa yoga instruction and a pioneer of yoga and fitness coaching in this country for the last 15 years. She has her own studio in Montenegro's capital city, Podgorica and regularly appears on Montenegrin TV's Atlas channel as a health, fitness and lifestyle presenter. Haydana also contributes regularly to Montengrin lifestyle publications as a health and fitness guru. You can see Haydana in action at her studio on YouTube.

11th June - Dana Marion is an internationally certified yoga teacher, based in the US, where she runs a small non-profit organization, New Roots Yoga, teaching free yoga classes to survivors of domestic and sexual violence. She comes as a team with partner Dan, who is also an avid practitioner of yoga. They both love travel, hiking, adventure and photography, so much so they set up their own company, Yoga Adventure Retreats.


The Yoga:
Hatha Vinyasa Flow is a form of yoga combining a physical, mental and spiritual yoga which encourages students to find a subtle balance between effort and relaxation. Hatha in particular uses movement and breath together, to produce a 'flow' of postures that lead from one to the next. The goal is to develop strength, flexibility and relaxation in both body and mind.

Classes will include a warm-up looking at correct alignment and breathing, a dynamic flowing sequence followed by standing and seated postures combining stretches, twists and forward and back bending, finishing with deep relaxation and meditation. Workshops are mostly in the morning at Villa Miela, lasting up to 90 minutes, but will also take place at some amazing locations in the National Park. Whether experienced or an absolute beginner, you'll feel energised and ready for all our awesome activities!

Proposed Itinerary:

Day 1
Arrival at Lake Skadar. Welcome and check-in to your base for the week, Villa Miela, next to the picturesque lakeside village of Virpazar. Welcome dinner and drinks on the terrace. Transfers can be arranged.

Day 2
Morning yoga and a boat cruise to beautiful Kom monastery. Experience the lake's mirrored waters and lily pads close up as we chug along to reach a semi-hidden water channel leading to the most beautiful and least well known of the lake's island monasteries. The views, chapels and surviving 15th century frescoes found here are simply stunning. The evening is free to dine at a local restaurant or self-cater.

Day 3
Morning yoga and a 3 hour hike to the medival hill village of Godinje. This circular route from Villa Miela's door offers glorious lake views and the scent of wild herbs as we walk an old donkey trail forgotten by the modern world. A packed lunch is included or option to lunch in the 14th century cellar of a local restaurant/winery. In the evening, we enjoy a group dinner at the Uksanovic Winery in Lake Skadar Valley.

Day 4
We start early with a 15 minute walk to Besac fortress in Virpazar to practice yoga in the unique setting of its newly restored roof terrace. The birdsong, historic setting and panoramic views will leave you energised and ready to enjoy the rest of the day, which is free to spend however you wish. The evening is also free to dine at a local restaurant or self-cater.

Day 5
Yoga at the beach. Today is all about relaxation and getting you to unwind and de-stress as much as possible. Late morning, we depart from Virpazar for a 40 minute boat trip to an idyllic private freshwater beach. Here we can swim, relax and practice yoga before enjoying late afternoon buffet at the beach restaurant. The evening is free.

Day 6
Morning yoga and a kayak trip to Beska island monastery. Today we head to the village of Murici on the southern shores of the lake for a gentle excursion by kayak to visit the nuns of 14th century Beska Island monastery. You'll have the lake all to yourself as you swim and kayak in crystal clear waters and take in the awesome views, varied bird-life and glorious solitude. In the evening, we visit the Dajkovic family homestead and honey farm as a group for a divine "zero mile" dinner of organic, home produced food and beverages.

Day 7
Morning yoga and a visit to the northern shores. On our final day, we head off to see the spectacular wetlands and winding rivers of the northern part of the lake. Part car safari, part hiking, we'll take you to stunning natural pools with waterfalls, an impressively large cave, and for more wild swimming at the source of a magificent river. Lunch (included) is at the picturesque lake village of Rijeka Crnojevica by its famous arched bridge. The evening is free to dine at a local restaurant or self-cater.

Day 8
Depart. Check-out is at 10am.
